Robert Pattinson has got nothing on THESE vampires

You might think that with Buffy, Twilight and True Blood, we've got more than enough vampire shows to satisfy our cravings for the folk with fangs – but that was before we heard about The Vampire Diaries. Made by the man behind Dawson's Creek and Scream and starring three extremely hot young talents in the shape of Ian Somerhalder, Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley, The Vampire Diaries is set in a modern world where real vampires laugh at Twilight and nice girls next door fall in love with them. We caught up with Ian, Nina and Paul this weekend after they took part in a very special Q&A session at the Apple Store in London, and asked them what it is about The Vampire Diaries that makes it so great. "We fall into this really great niche," Paul told us. "Thirteen-year-old girls can't sit and watch True Blood

with their parents – that would be awkward." Ian agrees, adding, "It's different. There's a subtle sort of humour." Asked if they've ever experienced the same sort of craziness as fellow vamp Robert Pattinson, Ian admits, "People ask me to bite them a lot." Paul, too. "A girl asked me to bite her as well, in a bar," he tells us. Eek! However, none of them are at the stage where they can't leave the house. "We're not that popular yet," jokes Ian, as Paul adds, "He [R-Pattz] can't even go out. Not even Johnny Depp is at his level. I don't think I'd want that." When we asked what it is about vampires that audiences can't seem to get enough of, all three were in agreement that humans love the idea of "danger and love" together, with Ian explaining, "As a vampire you lose the constraints of a mortal human. Humans are lured to something that's sexy and dangerous at the same time." Ian, Nina and Paul are staying here in London for a few days to "hang out and be tourists" and Nina told us excitedly that she can't wait to visit Topshop. Wise lady.

If you'd like a sneak peek at The Vampire Diaries, you can download the very first episode on iTunes right NOW. It's already stormed straight to the top of their chart. The whole series will start on ITV2 early next year. We can't wait!

[Video] Nina Dobrev Reveals Startling Upcoming ‘Vampire Diaries’ Plot Twist

As we all know on “Vampire Diaries,” Damon (Ian Somerhalder) has always had his eye on Elena (Nina Dobrev). He’s even teased his brother — and Elena’s boyfriend — Stefan (Paul Wesley), that he thinks she’s major eye candy. But, with Stefan and Elena finally going there (yes! They did it! You know … the big IT!), it seemed these two are on track to staying together and making it work.

Uh, well, cut to the fall finale episode, when Elena finds a photo of her look-a-like and former Damon/Stefan paramour, Katherine, and then freaking out and subsequently almost dying in a car accident. Apparently, this car accident and the events following it will somehow lead to Elena spending a lot more time with a certain Salvatore brother: Damon (!!!). Yeah, we’re confused too.

So, we asked Nina at Tuesday’s Golden Globes Young Hollywood party to tell us what we can expect in the crop of new episodes set to air beginning this January. “The last episode we ended on a cliffhanger,” she explained to MTV News. “My character gets into a extremely big car accident, she hits someone and you’re left hanging. You don’t know what’s going to happen, so we’re going to pick up right from there and you’re gong to see what happened and what happened after that.”

She very coyly added a split second later: “And, let’s just say Elena and Damon are gonna hang out a little bit.”

Uh oh…

Three Reasons The Vampire Diaries Will Suck You In

While the show is on winter hiatus, The CW is resurrecting The Vampire Diaries‘ first ten episodes with a week-long marathon, airing two episodes each night, starting Monday (8 p.m. EST).

Based on the 1991 book series by L.J. Smith, the show centers on feuding vampire brothers Stefan and Damon Salvatore as they vie for the love of mortal beauty Elena Gilbert. Developed for the small screen by Dawson’s CreekScream scribe Kevin Williamson, the drama has proved to be one of fall’s breakout hits, making this week’s marathon the perfect time to get caught up before the show’s January return. and

Unsure about taking on another supernatural saga? Here are three reasons to sink your teeth into The Vampire Diaries:

1. Supernatural Sex Appeal: There’s a new crop of vampires in town, and these boys will leave you thirsting for more! With Paul Wesley playing repentant vamp Stefan and Ian Somerhalder portraying his bad boy brother Damon, it’s no wonder Elena (Nina Dobrev) can’t make up her mind. The actors, who were recently named to PEOPLE’s Sexiest Men Alive list, are not shy about showing off their assets onscreen either, so look for the brothers Salvatore to lose their shirts as much as possible. As the show reached its fall finale, Legally Blonde hunk Matthew Davis also joined the cast as high school teacher Alaric Saltzman, and Fighting star Sean Faris is reportedly set to appear in future episodes, proving life in the town of Mystic Falls is about to get hotter.

2. More Bite than Twilight: Though Stefan, like the Cullens, chooses not to drink human blood, he is not above getting his fangs dirty, especially when dealing with Damon, an unrepentant killer with no regard for human life. The brothers’ bloody battles have already led to a sizable body count, and with the townspeople beginning to fight back, the threat of danger is continuing to grow. Equally as intense are the show’s love scenes. Whereas Bella and Edward’s relationship remained chaste, Stefan and Elena’s romance is hot and heavy — keeping up with CW dramas like Gossip Girl. For fans seeking something darker than Twilight but less graphic than, say, HBO’s True Blood, Vampire Diaries is the perfect middle-ground.

3. Magic in the Mix: There’s a supernatural creature for everyone in Mystic Falls. In addition to the vampires running wild, Elena’s best friend Bonnie Bennett (Katerina Graham) discovers she’s a witch. As Bonnie comes to terms with her powers, she also comes to blows with Damon, forcing a vampire-witch showdown that marked one of the series’ creepier episodes. Fans paying close attention towards the end of the show’s fall run were also left wondering if a werewolf would soon be joining the ranks of Vampire Diaries growing list of mythical creatures. Curious to know which character’s going to make the switch? Tune in this week to find out. –Kiran Hefa

'Vampire Diaries' Star Candice Accola Calls Her Time As Miley Cyrus' Backup Singer 'Unforgettable'

Recently Candice Accola dished to Hollywood Crush that she would love to see her "Vampire Diaries" character, Caroline, end up with a really nice guy after all the trauma hottie vamp, Damon (Ian Somerholder), has put her through.

But, long before she was falling in and out love with hot vampires, she hit the silver screen with Miley Cyrus as one of her backup singers in "Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert" and "Hannah Montana: The Movie."

But, with Candice busy shooting "Vampire Diaries" in Atlanta and Miley busy being, well, Miley, the two haven't had the chance to keep in touch. "Um we don’t keep in touch often, but I actually just went to her concert to see everyone here in Atlanta. I brought Nina with me and man she is rocking it. She looks great. She sounds great. It was really sweet to see her again. So we don't keep in touch… I hadn’t run into her since I got off the road, so it was good to give her a hug and see her rock out."

With her touring days behind her, Candice is busy shooting "VD," but does she miss it at all? "Well I mean that was a whole other different kind of family I've known the guys in the band since I was 16 so they were like my big brothers, so it was good to see them and I miss it," she explained. "But it was definitely time to move on. It was definitely one of the more unforgettable times of my life. It was a blast."

New 'Vampire Diaries' Cast Member, Dillon Casey, Could Give Paul Wesley A Run For His Money

A vampire vet is all set to join the cast of "Vampire Diaries" as a guest star, in the new year. Dillon Casey, who starred in the MTV mini-series "Valemont" about…you guessed it…vampires, will be playing a character named Noah, a CW rep confirmed to us.

The storyline is still being kept under wraps, but according to Vampire-Diaries.net , Noah becomes "obsessed" with Elena (Nina Dobrev).

It's not the first time Dillon has worked with Nina, the two starred in the 2007 Lifetime movie, "Too Young to Marry," about a young couple who — you guessed it again! — marry too young and deal with relationship issues.

Will there be on-camera sparks between their two characters again? We're not sure yet. But if the speculation proves true, Elena shouldn't be too quick to trust the new guy in town. On the flip side, Noah's interest in Elena supposedly sends Stefan (Paul Wesley), who we just Spotted! taking a break from work to catch a basketball game, into over-protective mode. Now that, we can't wait to see.

'Vampire Diaries' Star Candice Accola Wants Caroline To End Up With A Nice Guy

On "The Vampire Diaries," Caroline had a very rocky relationship with hottie vampire, Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder). Then, after a night spent in bed together, she thought that maybe she and Matt (Zach Roerig) could have a chance together. But, Candice Accola, who plays the bouncy Caroline, says that all that she needs these days is some time to herself.

Unless, of course, the right guy came along. "I don’t think Caroline needs a boyfriend, unless he's going to be really good to her," she told Hollywood Crush. "I think she's got a lot on her plate between her friend's a witch now… and getting over a relationship with her mother and her estranged father, who ran off with his lover. I think she's got a full plate… but if it's good love, that can never hurt."

Dating Damon was anything but good love for Caroline, who was constantly being manipulated by the hottie vamp any chance he could. And, she admits that now all she'd like to see happen is Caroline making the bad boy vampire feel bad.

"[She's] brokenhearted, but at the same time she knows it's best to get out of the circumstance, but I think at the same time she like wouldn’t mind getting her revenge eventually," she explained. "It's just like when you really like a guy and then he just toys with you and then totally leaves you hanging… at the same time if you ever had the chance to make him feel what you felt for him you would totally do it."

So with the potential of her relationship with Damon pretty much a non-possibilty, could it be that she and equally damaged Matt can make it work? She's not sure. "I have no idea what's going to happen with them!" she said. "But, yeah, I think that Matt would be a really nice guy for Caroline. Damon put her through hell and back, quite literally, so I think it's about time Carline gets a nice guy. I think they could definitely lean on each other."
