Vampire Diaries Casts New Plaything for Jeremy

Actress Malese Jow of kiddie TV fame (Unfabulous, Hannah Montana) is about to grow up fast. The gorgeous 18 year old is in Atlanta to begin shooting her first scene on The CW’s sexy Vampire Diaries. “She comes on as Jeremy’s smart new friend, Anna,” series creator Kevin Williamson tells me.

Hmm...just a ‘friend’? Couldn’t Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) use a friend with benefits now that his love, Vicki (Kayla Ewell), was staked through the heart by Stefan? “We’ll see how it goes,” teases Williamson. “Jeremy certainly turns her head. She gets a crush. It starts in one place and maybe ends someplace else.”

Also expect this duo to uncover a mystery.

Zach Roerig From The Vampire Diaries Talks Truck Stops, Filming in Atlanta and Boat Shoes

The Vampire Diaries series opens with Zach Roerig playing Matt Donovan, the big high school football star dating the hot girl of the school and main character, Elena Gilbert. The role of the football star is not a new one to Zach however. You may recognize him from his role from the hit series Friday Night Lights.

Although his recent successes highlight his career in 2009, he's no amateur to the industry. Zach had roles in popular soap operas such as One Life to Live and As the World Turns. His hard work has definitely paid off and the sky is the limit for this young actor.

AOL Travel asked Zach what was his favorite thing about filming The Vampire Diaries in Atlanta and how he's dealt with fan recoginition while on vacation.

What's the best thing you've discovered about Atlanta?

Zach Roerig: Little five points. It's like venice crossed between the east village. You can't go wrong with that.

What's the Funniest Time a Fan Recognized You While On Vacation? How Did Everyone React?

Zach Roerig: During one vacation trip we stopped at a truck stop to refuel. I was alarmed to hear a deep voice shout "Casey Hughes!" (My character on As the World Turns at the time). At this point my fans were generally middle aged females, so i was a little shocked when it turned out that the voice belonged to a burly trucker who happened to be a big fan of the show

What's Your Favorite Childhood Vacation Memory?

Zach Roerig: One night in North Carolina my cousins and I stumbled upon a sea turtle laying eggs on the beach. I was the oldest of the group and seized the opportunity to explain the birds and the bees to the youngsters, much to their parents chagrin.

What Is the One Item/Thing You Never Travel Without? And Why?

Zach Roerig: I will never travel without with my favorite pair of boat shoes. They smell so bad that I should probably burn them, but instead I wrap them up in 3 or 4 grocery bags and hope that the pilot doesn't mind the stench.

What's your biggest pet peeve when traveling or share the worst travel experience you've had?

Zach Roerig: Riding in my grandpa's truck knowing that the coffee can beneath my feet was filled with his urine from the first few hundred miles was alarming, to say the least.

'The Vampire Diaries' Wrap-Up: Damon's Diabolical Master Plan

The Vampire Diaries didn't stop the exciting plot developments with another episode that saw Stefan celebrate his 162nd birthday with his oldest friend, another lady vampire named Lexi. We also got movement on Bonnie's witch storyline, a new possible romance and one crazy ending.

But the big story is Lexi, the fun and old vampire who shows up to party with Stefan, wear a towel and distract Elena and fight Damon. But in the end, despite being stronger, Damon's intelligence won out and he got the upper hand by launching his Diabolical Master Plan.

The 5 Best Moments

Choking Damon
For seven episodes, Damon has been the big bad wolf on The Vampire Diaries, so it was fun and a bit of a shock to see Lexi show up and put him in his place. She choked him and proved that Damon might seem intimidating, but in the world of vampires, he's a wussy band geek.

Damon and Elena
For a brief moment, we got a glimpse at the interesting dynamic between these two characters as they stared at Lexi and Stefan enjoying themselves at the party. Even if they never have a real romance, I adore the strange love-hate relationship between these two, especially because it's mostly hate.

Matt and Caroline
I actually support this budding romance, because it will finally give Matt a chance to get a substantive story. Also, the prospect of a Matt-Caroline-Damon love triangle is a lot more exciting than the dull Tyler-Vicki-Jeremy one.

Damon Kills Lexi
Part of me is sad that The Vampire Diaries keeps killing off all the vampires, but Lexi's death was outstanding. Damon stepped up and ominously started off his "diabolical master plan" by getting involved with the Council.

It's Coming
What the heck was that ending? Bonnie had a crazy dream and heard that "It's coming" before waking up in a cemetery. I don't know what's coming, but the sudden impact of that final scene definitely has me looking forward to whatever it is.

The 5 Best Quotes

"Have you met you? You're not a nice person." - Lexi's simple explanation to Damon about why she doesn't like him

"You'll rock her world so hard with your vamp sex she'll be yours forever." - Lexi, making the idea of vampire sex even hotter by building some anticipation for it

"So she's not a raging bitch then?" - Lexi's detailed analysis about the differences between Elena and Katherine

"When you wear it, it makes you look fat." - Caroline's hilariously rude explanation for why Bonnie should give her back the necklace

"I have a diabolical master plan." - Damon joking, to Lexi, but not really
