‘Top Chef Masters’, ‘Vampire Diaries’ Renewed for Second Season

Bravo has announced the renewal of spin-off series Top Chef Masters for a second season. With the loss of Project Runway to lifetime, the network certainly can use all the decent reality TV fodder they can get. The renewal is likely a good move for Bravo, since the first season of Top Chef Masters
was the network’s highest ever ratings debut for a reality competition series.

Top Chef Masters host Kelly Choi and judges Gael Greene, James Oseland and Jay Rayner will all reportedly be back for the second season. Rick Bayless, known for his Mexican cuisine, won the first season of Top Chef Masters against competing finalists Hubert KellerMichael Chiarello. No firm released date has yet been announced for the second season release. and

Also picked up for a second season was The CW’s new hit show The Vampire Diaries. The Vampire Diaries has been a smash success for The CW, pulling in an average of 4.5 million viewers – quite a coup for a smaller network.

Melrose Place has not done as well with viewers, garnering an average of only 2 million viewers. Despite the low ratings, The CW has ordered up five more episodes of the show. Original Melrose Place star Heather Locklear has rejoined the show and that may lend hope to The CW for a future improvement in ratings.
